I took so many pictures and this was definitely the off season of late summer! They had an Ice Age exhibit going on and the kids and adults alike enjoyed the scavenger hunt. My kiddo is too young for that and very much enjoyed the small water activity of filling a mini pail of water and pouring it out either in the "creek" or on the rain garden. I loved that the activity was mostly shaded as I was so hot even between 9:30-11:30 AM when it isn't yet the peak of the day. I actually expected a splash pad of some sort because I read "water activities" but it's ok that I didn't find one! We played with that game until an "all done!" Loved seeing the flowers. It's very well taken care of. There were volunteers teaching the kids about butterflies. I loved that part because I've been meaning to plant some milkweed so that was a nice reminder there are so many butterflies that would love that! I liked the gift shop, especially because the cafe was closed for renovations. They had lots of things to buy to support the gardens for all ages. The ladies at the front were fantastic too! It was hot when we went, but there were lots of shady spots. The plants were beautiful and the ice age exhibit was really educational. I love this place.

Amazing flower beds and wildscapes to inspire and education about Texas native flora. I loved the “Little House”? Educational display for kids- but I loved it. I did not care for the Ice Age displays- they growled. Ha! I’m sure they aren’t permanent displays. Worth the visit!

Absolutely beautiful place to spend a few hours in Austin. The flowers were stunning everywhere we looked, and I loved seeing so many interesting bugs and pollinators throughout the gardens. It felt peaceful, educational, and inspiring all at the same time. There were so many thoughtfully designed areas to explore, and it was clear how much care goes into preserving native plants and creating habitats for wildlife. A wonderful place for nature lovers, photographers, gardeners, or anyone wanting a quiet escape surrounded by beauty. They also have a really fun interactive children’s area and play space. I’ll definitely be back during another blooming season!

Great place to visit in the mid to late spring - or at least after the first rain has come through. Definitely a lot more flowers then. Not too large of a wild flower space, but there's a good number of trails to walk around. You'll also find a lot of cyclist in the surrounding trails.
